Buttons and Bows Mini Quilt PDF Download Pattern... Gorgeous quick little quilt perfect for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day. Finishes at approx. 12 by 24. Features raw edge fusible applique, simple piecing techniques, and a couple of 3D folded bows! The pdf pattern contains fabric requirements and suggested useful notions. The document is 9 pages in length and includes colour photographs, a full diagramatic binding tutorial and full size templates for you to print off. I am thinking about releasing the mini quilt below as a pattern but I know that I was inspired by something similar I saw in an old Australian magazine. I would like to track it down and check with the designer before I put it out there. Anyone remember something similar? I have Googled extensively and drawn a blank!

I loved making this A5 Sewing Journal from my Aunts old 1940s tablecloth ! It features a little patchwork, quilting, some vintage buttons and applique. It ties at the side with a thin pink ribbon and has a ric rac border and a lace insert (reclaimed from an old lampshade ) on the reverse. Use it to jot down your sewing notes, inspiration or stick in your fabric swatches. Or don't use it for sewing at all!... The paper inside is 170gsm recycled cartridge paper (40 sheets) so could also be used for sketching or calligraphy. The book has a hard cover. Memories Digging around this week in old photos for some input into an upcoming new (super secret ) project and found these three photos.... Yep, they are all me ( ages 10-12) - ... - me with my first ever grown up sewing box ( love that bedspread!) - hitting a shuttlecock .....first ever blouse with collar cuffs and hand finished buttonholes ( eeeek !) ... - and with my bro’ in a black dress that I made for a school fashion show! My first proper electric sewing machine was a New Home that my mum bought for me as a Christmas present ....apparently she saw it advertised in Woman and Home and bought it mail order! What are your early sewing memories.....?

NEW WEBSITE NEWS My Story Today is a big day for me ....I finally got there... a beautiful new professional website courtesy of the lovely Jo Robinson of Mearns Digital.... As most of you will be aware I cancelled both my Sewing Cruise and Sewing Retreat events earlier in the year due to Covid 19. This forced me to put my thinking cap on and try new endeavours within the sewing world. To do this I pulled in the techy expertise of my youngest son and he worked hard on creating a website from which I could sell pdf sewing patterns.
